A timing belt is the key component in timing the bottom of the car's engine to the top of the engine. Failure of a timing belt would cause your engine to completely fail, which would result in a very costly repair or even permanent engine damage.
Why is a timing belt important?
- It synchronizes the movements of the car's pistons and valves
- It prevents the pistons and valves from colliding
- It prevents catastrophic engine failure
Your timing belt should be replaced during regular engine servicing usually between 80,000 - 100,000 kilometers.
